Employment screening
The Australian Employment Screening Standard, AS4811 2006 defines employment screening as the process of verifying, with the consent of the individual, the identity, integrity and credentials of an entrusted person and should apply to any individual that is, or will be, entrusted with resources and/or assets. The verification process may also include the discovery of information. Employment screening covers the pre, ongoing and post-employment/engagement stages of an individual’s relationship with the employer/engager.
Security clearance vetting
Misuse or mishandling of classified or sensitive information, whether deliberate or accidental, can have the serious consequences for the Australian Government. The security clearance process is one of the mechanisms used to ensure classified material is only entrusted to suitable people who demonstrate a proper appreciation of their protective security responsibilities and obligations. The security clearance process involves an inquiry into and corroboration of a person’s background, character and personal values and is conducted to ensure that an individual is both eligible and suitable to be granted, as well as maintain, a security clearance.
The Defence Security Authority (DSA) processes all security clearances for the Department of Defence and Defence industry. AIM Screening has been selected by the DSA to assist with processing clearances and is part of the 'Industry Vetting Panel (IVP)' which processes security clearances.
